Why do you use kangaroo leather?
We wanted to use a material that provides you with the most comfort while playing. Kangaroo leather is light, durable and moulds to your feet, with minimal break-in time. It is also sustainable, renewable and less damaging to the environment than some other synthetic materials.
The Australian Government strictly controls the harvest of kangaroos to ensure there is no detrimental impact on their ecosystem. Only a small proportion of the total kangaroo population is used for food and the leather we use is a by-product that would otherwise end up as waste. Kangaroos are not farmed, but live in the wild as a large and self-replenishing population.
I'm vegan. Do you have any options for me?
What else are you doing to be sustainable?
Our shipping partner, Sendle, is fully carbon neutral. All our packaging is made from recycled materials and can be recycled again. Our bootbags are made from recycled rpet and we are developing more environmentally friendly products.
We are working on a boot recycling program to help extend the life cycle of our products and to keep them out of landfill.
Why do I need shoes made for women?
Male and female feet are different. When playing sport, your footwear has a direct impact not only on comfort, but performance and injury risk as well.
Most women’s football boots and shoes are made for male feet and shrunk to ‘fit’ women, however this does not work and leads to pain and discomfort. You can read more about the differences in male and female feet on our blog.
How do women's feet differ to men's?
Generally speaking, women have smaller heels, higher arches and the widest part of the foot is in a different place. These may only sound like small differences, but it can have a big impact on the fit of your shoes. You can find out more in our blog post on the differences between men’s and women’s feet.
How are your boots different from other women's boots?
Most women’s shoes are made on a male shoe-last, shrunk down and labelled as women’s. A last is a mold that a shoe is built around. This means the shoe is created to fit a male foot and does not account for the differences between male and female feet.
We have a unique female last, meaning all our shoes are built to fit female feet. In addition, we’ve consulted researchers and podiatrists and changed the stud configuration so as to suit a woman’s body better.
You can expect less pain, blisters and rubbing in Ida Sports shoes. Find out more here.
What are the common signs of my boots not fitting properly?
You may experience blisters on your heels, or cramped toes. You may find that your feet ache after you take your boots off or the next day. This doesn’t have to be normal for you!
What should my boots feel like?
They should feel as comfy as your favourite pair of slippers! Which is exactly what this member of the Ida squad said.
Why don't you have a pink boot if you're making boots for women?
The common marketing term for making a female product is to ‘shrink it & pink it’. We spoke to athletes and they wanted a black boot, so that’s what we made instead.
*we love choice though so if you want a pink boot, let us know.
Why don't you make [insert other sport] shoes?
We’re only just getting started! We know there is a need for performance footwear for female athletes in all sports, and we will expand our product lines as our business grows.
Who is Ida Sports?
Ida Sports was co-founded by Laura Youngson and Ben Sandhu, and has now grown to include a team across three continents. Read more about the Ida Sports story here.
How were the boots designed?
Research, research and more research. We worked with podiatrists, biomechanical researchers, players, coaches and physiotherapists to come up with a shoe that felt good. We then worked with a team of designers to make sure it also looked the part.
I love the product, can I be a brand ambassador?
We’re stoked you love it! You can express interest in being a brand ambassador here and we will review on a case by case basis. Please remember that we are still a small business and are unable to give out products and sponsorships to everyone that reaches out.

Approved programs can request three donations a year, for two years until they need to submit a new application. Good Sports has equipment that spans more than 20 different youth sports and physical fitness activities.
If you are outside the US, please get in touch if you feel like your organization would benefit from a connection with our brand.
